We previously have enjoyed a number of cruises with Celebrity but this year decided to try Azamara and enjoyed it to such an extent that we. whilst on board, booked another cruise with Azamara in 2009. The service and cuisine were certainly up to the same standard as Celebrity; the itinery was much better by virtue of the ship, the Quest being much smaller. was able to dock in numerous ports which would not be accessible to the larger ships. What dotted the "i"s and crossed the "t"s for us was the friendliness of the crew. Was it because of its size or were the crew exceptional? But they were so friendly; the cruise director, the singer/pianist/comedian, the officers, the entertainment staff. This friendliness permeated to the guests. The casual dining arrangements, no set seating or dining times suited us too.
If this kind of ambience appeals to you, go for it. If however, you enjoy formal evenings, everyone sporting tuxedos in the
theatre, prefer lazing by the pool instead of sightseeing Azamara is probably not for you. If you enjoy spectacular shows with high wire trapeze acts instead of solid enteratinment to a troupe of 5 singers, stick with Celebrity.
